Could you build this?

This is an exceptional project, but it does not require you to be an engineer. The most difficult work—developing the mechanism—has already been completed.

A technically capable adult who enjoys DIY, can work accurately and is familiar with common workshop tools has a realistic basis for taking it on.

Finished mechanical riding horse

This could suit you if...

  • you have completed a few DIY or woodworking projects
  • you can measure, cut and drill accurately
  • you are comfortable using common power tools
  • you enjoy a substantial project rather than a quick craft

This is not...

  • a one-day beginner project
  • a physical kit or box of parts
  • a finished horse delivered to your home
  • a toy or certified riding or therapeutic device
Construction detail from the real prototype
The most important distinction

Developing it took almost two years. Building from the guide is a completely different task.

The long development period included designing the motion, changing parts, testing the prototype and producing detailed documentation. You are not repeating that process. You are following the finished dimensions, specifications and sequence.

Realistic expectations

Build time: approximately 30–50 hours
Complete material cost: approximately €500
Skill level: intermediate to advanced

No welding

The design can be built using ordinary workshop methods and flat steel components.

No custom electronics

The drive is based on a regular drill, a worm gearbox and a speed controller.

No invention work

The guide already defines the dimensions, components and construction sequence.

You do not have to figure it out. You only have to build it.

The complete guide contains the construction steps, templates, dimensioned drawings, exact component specifications, materials list, sourcing guidance and troubleshooting in one illustrated PDF.
